Positions and protections

Managing an open position: brackets, trailing, breakeven, closing and recovery on restart.

Once you have sent an order, this guide explains how to manage the position while it is open.

The bracket that protects the position

When the entry fills, if you enabled Bracket SL/TP two linked orders are created automatically:

  • TP (take-profit), closes at a profit at the chosen price;
  • SL (stop-loss), closes at a loss at the chosen price.

They are linked in OCO: when one fills, the other cancels itself. That way the position is always covered on both sides.

Trailing and breakeven

  • Trailing, the stop “follows” price in your favour, locking in the profit earned so far.
  • Breakeven, the stop is moved to the entry price, so the position can no longer go into loss.

Editing and closing

  • Drag the TP/SL lines on the chart to change their price (snapped to the tick).
  • Use Close in the Positions widget, or the on the line, to close at market.
  • Working orders still pending are cancelled individually or all at once.

”Today only” orders (TIF)

Orders set as valid for the day are cancelled automatically at the session boundary, so you never find yesterday’s orders still live without meaning to.

Recovery on restart

If the program is restarted with an open position, the protections are rebuilt: active brackets, pending entries and trailing/breakeven are recovered from the saved state. The position is never left uncovered.

In short: after the entry you do not have to watch the stop and the target by hand, the bracket, the trailing and the restart recovery keep the position protected.
