ICT: Order Block and Breaker

The zones a move started from, and what happens when they flip.

An Order Block is the last candle in one direction before a decisive move the other way: the zone large orders most likely entered from. Coming back to it, price often uses it as support or resistance.

What it is for

Spotting the “launch” zones of moves, where price tends to react when it returns.

How to read it

  • A coloured rectangle marks the order-block zone (bullish or bearish).
  • When price trades through an order block, it becomes a Breaker: the zone “flips” and changes role (a broken former support tends to act as resistance, and vice versa). The violated order block is highlighted in a dedicated colour.

Parameters

  • Bull / bear colour, the appearance of active zones.
  • Violated colour, which colour to show zones that have already been traded through (the breakers).

The Breaker Block is therefore the natural evolution of the order block: no separate indicator is needed, it is the same zone once its role changes.
